On election day, voters in the Village of Mamaroneck will have the opportunity to vote on two referendums to amend local law regarding the election of the Mayor and Trustees. Watch the Candidates’ Forum to hear about these referendums from the candidates’ perspectives.
§ 9-7 Terms of Mayor and Trustees
The term of office of the Mayor and each Trustee, which is currently two years, pursuant to section 3-302(3) of the Village Law of the State of New York, is extended to four years, pursuant to the authority granted to the Board of Trustees by section 3-302(5) of the Village Law of the State of New York.
§ 9-8 General Village Elections
Pursuant to the authority granted to the Board of Trustees by section 3-302(7) of the Village Law of the State of New York, general village elections shall be held biennially in the even numbered years. Superseding the provisions of section 3-302(7)(e) of the Village Law of the State of New York, the successor to each Trustee whose term of office expires in 2024 will be elected for a two year term, expiring in 2026, and their successors will thereafter be elected for four year terms and the successor to the Mayor and each Trustee whose term of office expires in 2025 will each be elected for a three year term, expiring in 2028, and their successors will thereafter be elected for four year terms.
